A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Walter Van Beirendonck was known as a member of The Antwerp Six, and gained notoriety during the 1980’s for his strong graphics, innovative cuts, and irreverent approach to fashion. Mutilate is the designer’s own artist’s book and monograph, in which material from over a decade of collections is documented. With a DayGlo cover, the spiral-bound book features fold-out plates, embossing, and die-cutting, as well as photographs from Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Carel Fonteyne and Juergen Teller, among others.
