Since 1975, Comme des Garcons had been producing image catalogs for each season. However, in the late 1980s, there was a trend where other brands also started producing similar catalogs. In this context, Rei Kawakubo proposed the idea of "Six," aiming to depart from merely showcasing the clothes and instead express the spirit of the brand by freely editing and presenting images created by various artists worldwide.
